I did have an idea of what I was going to write – but sadly experienced my first “white screen of death” (yes, it is a thing!) tonight on my website… so fixing that has rendered the rest of my brain useless for the rest of the evening.

Being outside and appreciating my surroundings is incredibly important to me at the moment. So is slowing down and soaking it all in  – I’ve talked about it before (last post, I think?!), and whether it’s with a camera in my hand or not I don’t mind.

I’ve spoken before about how life tends to fill with whatever is going on – when I’m being challenged it is quite often that everything else tends to take a back seat until I’ve got through that period… even if the things I’m putting to one side are also important. It used to frustrate me. A lot. I’m capable of fitting in plenty in a day and a week and a month – but I also need to make sure I’m alive at the end of all that. I’m ok with focussing on (and appreciating!) what’s around me without meticulously photographing it at the moment… don’t worry, I still see everything!787_newbie_blog788_newbie_blog789_newbie_blog790_newbie_blog791_newbie_blog

For the sake of making sure I don’t repeat myself (again…), I’ve got very little to say! My camera is very neglected at the moment.

I’ve caught myself wondering where I found the time to complete my 365 project… particularly since for part of it I was working big hours and also studying big hours on top of that. There’s some saying about how if you want something done you should give it to a busy person – and whilst I definitely believe it, it’s amazing how much your life adjusts to your lifestyle. I may not feel like I have time, but if I managed to do it then, I sure as anything have the time to do it now!

I don’t have many (self-imposed!) ‘rules’ when it comes to taking the photos I do. Well… other than my antics of lining things up perfectly (very rarely works!) and making sure most location-identifying features aren’t visible, there’s one other major one: I cannot alter the physical environment in any way. Annoying piece of rubbish? It stays there. Door that isn’t quite shut? Leave it alone. Stupid piece of grass that gets in the way? Not allowed to break it off. Traffic cone that would look SO MUCH BETTER if it was perfectly lined up on a line? Grin and bear it, sweetheart.
