I haven’t got much to say (now, that’s weird, right?!) – and I’m not sure why. Never mind… I make the rules in this game, so I’m choosing to post this as is!

…and the shadow obsession continues! Actually – I’d hardly say I was obsessed, but it’s certainly what my eye is drawn to at the moment. Mind you – blindingly sunny afternoons and a broken (read: held together with a bent staple and fall off my head when I look down) pair of sunglasses may have something to do with that! I love love love the mop photo – there’s something a little magic about it, I think. Also – who has a red and white striped shade in a semi-industrial area?!

Right place, right time. Right place, right time. So (so!) many of my photographs really do rely on me being in just the right location at just the right time of day – and this one is definitely no exception. My wonderful husband was dropping me off at the train station when we drove past here… I saw this through the cars in the carpark and there was definitely a couple of seconds when I contemplated not asking him to stop. I went back, took it – and then showed it to him – to which he responded with “How the HELL did you see that?!” Good question. I have no idea, except that I’m glad I did. Moments later (really and truly, all drama aside), the clouds rolled in – no more shadows, no more glowing traffic cone. It was interesting to see the transformation – something I loved turned into something flat and really quite boring.

I had some time to kill yesterday afternoon so I went on a little expedition (!!!) – and since then, I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t know anyone who is (or would even remotely be!) as excited as I was about being on a nearly empty shopping centre roof at this time of day. I’ve also come to the conclusion that it was an absolutely ridiculous idea to go cold turkey from taking random photos after 365 days of the stuff, and that I shouldn’t do that again – life getting in the way or not.

So… welcome to the rooftop of the Chermside shopping centre, as well as another random street around there that I’ve never ever driven down!

I took so many photos yesterday I had to split it into two instalments…! I cannot begin to explain how much ridiculous enjoyment I get from finding and taking photos of these interesting places – and I often wonder how many others see them in the same way that I do? Odd way of looking at things, I know – but I really am intrigued as to how much I’ve ‘trained’ my eyes to find the details around me.

It’s a strange feeling for me posting so many images at once when I’m used to individuals – there’s things I want to say about some of them, but I’m not sure how to ‘structure’ it (cough cough – not everything is about structure, dear Ann…). Including the time and place with each photo is something that’s also important to me, but for some reason at the moment it seems too much. Need to work out some balance here!
