1:18pm, Newstead: Day 68 ~ Sometimes the most simple of things are the hardest to photograph… I took quite a lot of the fence before I ended up with this. Love the bright yellow – everything is so blue/neutral and the yellow just contrasts so well! There’s something about yellow that’s happy – I don’t know why, and I don’t know why it seems to be just yellow. Is it because it is associated with sunshine? And… sunshine and beaches and sunflowers and… yellow… are happy, right?!
1:48pm, Hendra: Day 55 ~ When I first saw this, I knew I needed to take a photo of it! It was crazy busy (in a car park) and I was in a major hurry to get back and photograph it… just in case they were taken away. I shouldn’t have worried – they’re still there now, 250+ days later! Love the colour combination, and the yellow numbers… and there’s something about how the amount of text on the containers increases from left to right that gets me. Nothing is straight – and it took me ages to compose something that felt balanced. This place is just about next door to a police station, so I was feeling the pressure…!
5:36pm, Stafford: Day 76 ~ Someone HAS to know what business this is, right?! My favourite part about this photo is the yellow grate – how fabulous is it?! I’ve wondered so often (and said, I know…!) – why bother? What’s the point if paying attention to the colour of such a small part or thing? It’s only going to get dirty (as you can see!) – I don’t mind though, it makes me happy!
1:15pm, Newstead: Day 68 ~ I’m a bit strange in the fact that I like scaffolding – all those straight lines and repetitions of patterns are pleasing to my eye! I was drawn to this because of the connection of those tiny little bits of red in the no standing sign and the small piece of tape. I like how the fence has a bit of a curve going on, and how that contrasts with the straightness of everything else!
5:18pm, Kedron: Day 82 ~ If you’ve read my blog for a while, or walked anywhere with me late in the afternoon (or morning, or…!) you’ll know how much I love light – and that I have been known to not be able to contain my excitement at it sometimes. Can be quite embarrassing. Seriously though… isn’t it amazing in this?! The colours positively glow, and whilst this is not how I planned on this image looking when I got there, I’m pretty happy with how it ended up. I especially love how the sunlight really highlights the texture of the brick, and I love the tiny shadow in the top left and how you can see the gaps in the brick!
