5:48pm, Northgate: Day 33 ~ Do you think the person that spray painted this could possibly have done a slightly neater job, and possibly not over sprayed their template?! This mailbox has obviously been retired, but I love how it’s still there – so bright and strong. It looks like it was originally blue – I wonder what made them decide to change it?
12:16pm, Toombul: Day 70 ~ Other than the base of the yellow, can you see a single curved line in here? I love it! I chilled out in my car and waited for some (scary) people to disappear before I took this… I love the graphical nature of it – it’s so neutral except for the yellow, and the only thing that breaks the symmetry is the speed bump and position of the lines.
I haven’t picked up either of my ‘real’ cameras for just over two weeks, and haven’t opened the case of my Fuji for a month. Don’t get me wrong – I’m still taking some photos (they are here) – but nothing as serious as I have been! January was a bit of a chaos month, but it’s really hit me how much photography is part of the way I think and the way I work… and definitely the way I see things.
There’s some serious debating going on in my head at the moment – and my ‘365’ journey is well and truly part of it. I hate doing things for no reason, and I hate wasting time. I struggle to have ‘time off’ – I keep seeing things that I want to photograph, but for some reason I’m not. Actually, that’s a lie – I know it’s because I can’t see the ‘big picture’. What I want the end result to be. Where this is taking me. What I want to do with it. Why I want to share it. Blah. It’s ridiculously complicated!
Either which way, I’ve just started having withdrawal symptoms, and I’m surprised it’s taken this long – I guess it’s because I jammed so much into the first two weeks of January! My reactions today were involuntary – I saw some pretty cool things and there was absolutely no option to drive past and not photograph them… I foresee I bit more of that in the future, somehow.
4:51pm, Windsor: Day 110 ~ Ohhhh I love this building! The green is fabulous – and, to be honest – I only know what this building is and what it is because of the colour! I love the texture of the bricks, and the contrast of the white steps against the green. Makes me wonder why the bottom two steps are more worn than the others… a sitting spot, perhaps?
7:05am, Eagle Farm: Day 12 ~ Right place, right time for sure with this one! I love how perfectly the shadow finishes just at the bottom of the door, and how that diagonal is the only real angled line in the whole photo. I think this was my first ‘shadow’ photo – the beginning of many! So many awesome straight lines… and I found it purely by chance.
